Joy SOS's Story...
AVAILABLE 05-27-16 Sweet Joy came to the Shelter as a stray, so can't be sure, but we're thinking she's about 5 years old. Joy is such a gentle soul, she loves to take walks and be petted, but her favorite thing to do is to play fetch. She appears to have had more than her share of puppies, but will be spayed at adoption (if not sooner). She probably hasn't had the best 5 years of life so truly deserves to be loved and cared for the rest of her life. Joy tested negative for heart worms, so is on preventative and her shots are now up to date. She qualifies for our SOS (Save Our Seniors) program which means her adoption fee is half for an age 55 or older adopter. Consider putting some Joy in your life - come to the Shelter and make her part of your family.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Joy SOS, a Elizabeth City American Pit Bull Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Pit Bull Terrier for sale in Elizabeth City, or seeking a American Pit Bull Terrier dog from a breeder in Elizabeth City.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Elizabeth City already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Elizabeth City breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Pit Bull Terrier breeders who help with American Pit Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Elizabeth City paves the way for another one to be saved.
