Sally is located in a foster home in Arkansas.  She is a petite Labrador (weighing about 45# and about 21' at the shoulder) and she always seems to be in a good mood and smiling so she was named after Sally Fields.   Her foster mom found her and a young male dog in a grassy clearing next to a busy country road  Sally's foster mom was already over her limit for dogs but she was afraid to leave them because storms were moving into the area and she was also afraid they might be picked up and used as bait dogs.  They would have to be outside dogs but at least they would be safe.

Sally is young with an estimated date of birth of 9-15-15.  She is a friendly girl and likes to follow her foster mom around.  She loves to play with her buddy Walker (the other dog she was found with) and finds the cats interesting but does not bother them.  There are no young children in her foster home but she is a sweet dog and probably would do fine with them especially if they are old enough to play with her.

Sally is learning to walk on a leash.  She and the other outside dogs get to come into the enclosed porch when loud noises are expected such as thunder, fireworks, hunting season when guns will be fired.  She has to use a crate and does very well.  Sally is learning how to sit and take treats nicely.  She still needs to work on her leash training, manners and basic commands.

About Arkansas Southern Dog Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a caring group of volunteers who formed ASDR to try and save more healthy animals from euthanization. So far in 2006 we have saved over 150 dogs and cats and placed them in loving, caring, responsible homes all over the United States and Canada.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We have an adoption event scheduled every Saturday at Petco in North Little Rock, AR for ASDR dogs located in Arkansas

ASDR will be showing animals available for adoption every Sat here from now on - so if you are looking for your new forever friend please come and hang out with us at Petco. We would love to see you. If you have already adopted a dog from ASDR - bring them along for a reunion!

Our Adoption Process...

The first step in the process is a fully completed adoption application and agreement. Once that has been returned and approved - and we do check all references before an applicant is approved - we can begin getting the dog or cat ready for transport to the new owner. After application approval the pet is taken from LRAS by LRAS personnel to a vet where it is spayed or neutered, given all it's shots, checked for heartworms, intestinal worms and parasites, and generally examined for any other problems there might be. After that is complete it goes into a foster home until transport can be arranged. We do transports all over the US and Canada and costs can range from free, to $125 for a "puppy bus" to the NE U.S., to $400 to fly the dog or cat.
