My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET COOPER -

COOPER is a 21 month old, 12 lb, red and white dapple, smooth coat male Dachshund (ALL DOXIE) looking for love and ready to give you joy and laughter...just look at that face and those beautiful blue eyes!

He is brand new to Oregon Dachshund Rescue, Inc., so more details are on their way, but according to Momma Jenell, this adorable heart breaker is one special baby boy. Cooper will make someone a wonderful family member. He is 100% puppy and very active - he loves toys and running the land here at the sanctuary, He does need work on barking. COOPER is a gentleman.

COOPER will do best as the only fur baby in a doxie savvy family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) and only older children (over age 12), who are familiar with the special needs of Dachshunds and willing to help Cooper with his puppy training so he can achieve his potential as the perfect family pet. This is an important job because puppies need time, training, lots of love and patience. If you think this might be your family, please visit www.odr-inc.org and complete our adoption questionnaire. Cooper is waiting to meet you and give you lots of puppy kisses.

Like all Dachshunds, COOPER is high energy and enjoys playing and warming his little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around his neighborhood, COOPER needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 12 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give COOPER a happy, carefree life again? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in contact with you within 48-72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
