Mighty Dog's Story...
This is Mighty. He was rescued Friday 8/8/08 from a high kill shelter. He was on death row & had to get out that day before the shelter closed. He was available to "rescue only" because in the shelter he was acting aggressive. He was supposedly brought in as a stray. The shelter workers have a lot of experience & they said it was his owner who carried him in, even though she said he was a stray they knew better because she was holding him & no one else could touch him. He was extremely scared & insecure, that is why he was acting that way. When I saw the email with his picture I just knew he had to get a second chance. After all, it's not his fault he ended up in a shetler scared and alone :(

He will need someone with A LOT of love and patience & no young children, because he has been traumatized and will do best in a quiet home. He has only been with me 2 days, and he is already in my lap, pressing up against me for comfort. He wags his tail when he sees me & so far has done fine with another small dog & foster cats.

He is sleeping in a crate & does just fine and has not had one accident, more proof that he had a home & was not a stray.

Please call if you think you could give this special boy all the love he deserves, and a better life!

Mighty is young, probably anywhere between 1-3 years old. He is neutered. He will be going in soon to be tested for heartworms & receive his vaccinations. He will also be microchipped.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mighty Dog, a Fort Worth Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Fort Worth, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Fort Worth.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Fort Worth already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Fort Worth breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Fort Worth paves the way for another one to be saved.
