Callie's Story...
Callie is a very sweet and loving dog. She is a housetrained, female boxer / retriever mix who is 2 years old and looking for the love of her life. She weighs 50-55 pounds and has a funny, sweet-natured personality. Callie is great with kids. She loves to give them kisses and her tail never stops wagging. She also gets along well with other dogs. Callie loves to go for car rides and is very well behaved. She's a smart dog who knows the commands sit, lie down, no, eat, outside, upstairs, downstairs, stay, get your toy and get the stick. Callie is bursting with character and personality. She is playful, friendly, energetic, oh-so loveable, kissy, nosey and cuddly. She's a people-dog who loves companionship, attention and affection. Callie's favorite things are getting her belly or ears scratched, chewing on sticks outside, bird watching, staring in the mirror and kissing everyone she meets. Her favorite toys are the rubber Kong and sticks. Callie is an inside dog. She roams the house free when no one is home and has not had any destructive behavior issues. She loves to sleep on the couch and when you're home, she's by your side. Callie is an incredibly loving dog who deserves to be a spoiled, beloved member of a family. Please show her what forever means. Adoption fee: $75.

Adoption Process:
Send an email to to tell us which pet you're interested in and we'll send you a questionnaire that will help us make the best match for you and your new pet. We then arrange a location, date and time for you to meet some pets. If the meeting goes well and everyone is happy, you begin the two-week trial run with the pet as part of your family. This is a trial period to give your dog or cat time to adjust to their new home, new people, new routine, etc., and for you to decide if it's a match and the right pet for you. At the end of two weeks (some people extend the trial time and that's fine too), if everyone is happy, then we finalize the adoption.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Callie, a Troy Labrador Retriever/Boxer dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Boxer for sale in Troy, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Boxer dog from a breeder in Troy.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Troy already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Troy breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Boxer breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Boxer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Troy paves the way for another one to be saved.
