My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET TAZ!
This uniquely handsome guy is named Taz or "T" for short! Taz is a 7 year old Pit Bull terrier who was recently returned to Philly's animal control shelter after 5 years in a home due to his owners having to relocate and and inability to properly care for him. He has a mostly white coat with patches of gray throughout. When Taz came to the shelter, he was covered in lesions due to a pretty severe skin infection, likely mostly due to not being kept clean and likely not getting a healthy diet, which also contributes to him being overweight right now. Because Taz wasn't going to be able to get the care he needed at the shelter, he was selected for euthanasia. Luckily, City of Elderly Love stepped in to save his life and whisked him right off to our vet!

Taz was immediately treated with antibiotics and medicated shampoo to clear up his skin infections. While he still has some scarring from his past, he's looking and feeling like a whole new man! He's even lost a good amount of weight since starting an appropriate diet and getting basic daily exercise like walks and playtime. Despite being a bigger guy, Taz walks well on a leash and is a low-key, medium-energy dog. He's always up for a walk or ride in the car, but is also happy to explore the yard on his own or snooze in the sun! He gives gentle kisses and loves back/butt scratches! Taz is currently living at a local doggy daycare/adoption center with other dogs. He does great with other smaller dogs and really seems to enjoy the company of the ladies! We've only found one dog so far that he was not a fan of and think he'd probably do best in a home with smaller male dogs or female dogs. Taz reportedly lived with children of all ages in his previous home and has done well when meeting them with us. Unfortunately, Taz is a little too interested in kitties and should not live with them. This amazing dude can't wait to occupy your couch! Could you be the lucky family that adopts this handsome guy?

Taz is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love and is already neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. He is also heartworm and lymes disease negative. Recent blood work showed that besides having some patchy skin, he is a healthy guy! Interested in meeting him?
