My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sam is black and tan Manchester Terrier or a large Min Pin, approximately 14 years old. He was surrendered by his owner along with a 6 year old Chihuahua. Sam was not bonded to him so we are comfortable finding them separate homes.

Unfortunately Sam has been neglected for a long time and has some lasting effects from that. Sam has had a full veterinary work up and has been diagnosed with Cushing’s Disease. The treatment can be very hard on older dogs so due to his age we are not going to aggressively treat it.

Sam has been checked out by the eye doctor. He has some vision, mostly light and shadows in his left eye and no vision in his right eye. He is currently on eye drops for irritation in his right eye. The eye doctor said he has probably been visually impaired for some time based on how quickly he adapted and learned to navigate his new environment at his foster home.

Other than that is just a skinny, mostly blind senior citizen. And we are working on the skinny part! He loves to eat! He still has a good quality of life. He enjoys tootling around the back yard, eating and snuggling. He seems to be cognitively intact and should still have some quality time left on earth.

Sam has been in a home with both cats, dogs and pretty much ignores them. But he loves his humans. He would do best in a nice calm, quiet home with someone who can spend a lot of time with him and help him enjoy the rest of the time he has.
He is loving, curious, and very, very sweet.

He wants nothing more than a full belly, a nice soft bed and kisses.
Sam has been neutered, current on vaccinations, tested negative for heartworm and also micro chipped.
