My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATE 6/17: it's been a year since Blossom was first removed from that horrible hoarding situation and she's made so much progress in her foster home! She loves going for walks and is working on housebreaking, and gets along well with the other dogs in the foster home. She's still skittish at first with new people and situations but warms up and is very sweet and craves attention from her chosen people. We would love for Blossom to finally find her happy ending in a permanent home. Email njwoof@cs.com if you are interested.

UPDATE: 6-9-16: what a difference a few days make! Blossom is now actually the MOST outgoing of our group, wagging her tail, giving kisses and jumping for attention. She's still getting the hang of walking on a leash but is making huge progress each day!
Blossom is the most skittish of the dogs we took in from the recent Hopatcong hoarding situation and looks like she has had a particularly tough life. She is covered head to toe in old scars from being picked on by other dogs in the house and is very fearful about being handled although you can tell she desperately wants to learn to trust. She's about 30lbs full grown and we aren't sure of her breed though she resembles a large Manchester terrier or small Doberman.

Having the opportunity to help frightened neglected dogs like these learn trust and enjoy their lives is the most rewarding part of rescue and reminds us of why we keep doing what we do, and we are looking forward to watching these special dogs' true personalities start to emerge as they feel safe. Email njwoof@cs.com if you are interested in fostering or helping with any of our dogs. And please donate on our PayPal link:

So we can continue to help more like them!

We do not have a shelter- all our pets are in foster homes and can be seen by appointment only during the week, or at our weekly pet adoptions every Sunday at the Animal Clinic of Morris Plains from 12:30 to 3PM at 3009 Route 10 East next to 5 Star Car Wash (formerly Boulder Car Wash) in Morris Plains (Denville on GPS). To help us better match a pet to your household, we request you fill out an application on our homepage www.secondchance.petfinder.com and copy and paste it into an email, or print it and bring it to our adoption day when you come. Local inquiries only please- we do not do long distance adoptions.
