Lab/Shepherd Mix, Neutered Male, 3 1/2 years old, Black

Hi Humans! Hoover here and I'm a 3 1/2 year old male Lab/Shepherd mix that was surrendered to the shelter because my owner was moving and could not bring me with. I'm a very good dog, and I learn things very quickly. If you are looking for a loyal companion, I'm your man! In fact, I am so loyal, that I can get a little protective of my family when strangers come around. I'm all bark though, and I warm up quickly once I know a new person is my friend. Because I am protective, I would not do very well in a home with small children. My previous owner loved me very much, and we lived in the country where I had plenty of room to run around. I am used to getting a lot of exercise, so my new home will have to keep this in mind. If you are looking for a loyal, loving, companion who will keep you safe, I'm definitely your guy, and you should come out to the shelter and meet me today!

About Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter

About Our Shelter...

We are an animal shelter that cares for approximately 1,000 animals per year. We work with Mahaska County and the City of Oskaloosa, IA to provide animal control services and we also work through the Mahaska Humane Society to educate and promote responsible pet ownership as well as low cost spay/neuter services for low income pet owners.

Come Meet Our Pets...

The public can visit our adoptable pets at the Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter any time during normal business hours. We are open to the public Tuesday-Friday 11am-5pm and Saturday 11am-4pm.

Our Adoption Process...

Potential adopters must complete a pre-adoption application in which questions regarding responsible pet ownership are asked. Once approved the adopter is allowed to adopt and must pay an adoption fee which varies based on the age and species of the animal being adopted. At the time of adoption the adopter must sign an adoption contract. All animals are spayed or neutered prior to adoption.
