Rocky's Story...
Rocky was part of a litter of two who lived in a gated area among the pallets at the Walmart in Locust, NC. We were able to get only one of the kittens and the other one disappeared. Rocky is not wild and we have made great progress with him in the almost 2 weeks that he has lived in the rescue. He is not accustomed to lots of people or loud noises. He loves having a regular meal twice daily and all the Royal Canin dry baby cat food he wants. He purred the first week we had him and he likes the other cats in the rescue.
Based on his weight, we think he was born around March 23, 2016 and is approximately 9 or 10 weeks old when we got him. Rocky has been combo blood tested testing neg/neg for FELV and FIV. He has been de-wormed, treated for fleas, and has had his first distemper vaccination. Rocky is a work in progress and will take a little more loving kindness. Sometimes he acts timid and at other times he is running on the floor playing with the other kittens and you can walk up to him and pet his head. His nap time is spent sleeping next to the Mama cat from Walmart – the mother of the other litter we rescued.
If you think Rocky is the kitten for you, please call Dianne at 704-796-3633 or 704-786-7768. Thank you for considering giving a home to a rescued kitten!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Rocky, a Harrisburg American Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Shorthair for sale in Harrisburg, or seeking a American Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Harrisburg.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Harrisburg already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Harrisburg breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Shorthair breeders who help with American Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Harrisburg paves the way for another one to be saved.
