My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello World!

We are (drum roll please) Memorable Maddie and Mischievous Mikey, a mother and son who have had the most amazing journey. Just about one year ago we, and three of our four-legged friends, were brought to a place called a shelter. We were scared, malnourished, dirty and afraid. No one came to see us and we huddled together to stay warm and not be so scared. It was not looking very good for any of us. Then these nice ladies did something called ‘networking’ and our BFK Auntie Angels swooped in (well, they didn’t really swoop – it was more like they walked in and had a big truck waiting outside.) They took all five of us and we were off on our great adventure.

I, Maddie, am a Mom. Although I’m little (under 10 pounds and so is Mikey) I have always been very protective of him. You see he was born seeing with his heart, since he couldn’t see with his eyes. I didn’t want him picked on or hurt and I was so busy being Mikey’s mom that I didn’t get to be a young playful little girl myself. Well, that was then – and this is now! Thanks to our Auntie Angels, Mikey had his eye surgery and he sees perfectly now. So he can get into all kinds of mischief and is making up for lost time.

And, as a matter of fact, so am I. You see, now I get to be free, spontaneous, and guess what else? I’ve learned to play! I have this toy (it might be the first one I’ve ever played with.) Mom says it’s called a stuffed ball but I call it my toy. I like to shake it and throw it in the air. I also like to ‘invite’ my doggy foster sister to chase it with me. If I get my toy, then I like to keep it– but I also enjoy being chased! I run like the wind with a smile on my face because life is GOOD!

Did I mention that Mikey and I have the bestest foster Mom! She has taught us all kinds of things and loves us to bits. We get to go on walks, rides in the car, play with our doggy foster brother and sister, meet both the big people (they’re called adults) in the neighborhood as well as the little ones called children . We’ve learned some commands and get to lounge in the house during the day, and to sleep quietly in our crate at night.

You can always find us touching, walking closely together or playing with one another. Mom says that’s why we’re called a bonded pair. Oh, and before I forget, I’m about nine or ten years old and Mikey’s about five or six.

Despite all that we’ve been through Mom says we love and trust unconditionally and without reservation. So if you are looking for a darling pair of happy, affectionate, gentle, loving, easy going, eager to please and delightful pups, have a loving home (we are even good with cats, by the way) then please ask for us. We’re ready to make you smile!

Wags, wiggles and lots of kisses,
Magnificent Maddie and Most Excellent Mikey
