Floki is your typical happy-go-lucky pup! Floki was found abandoned on a country road. We believe he is about 12 weeks old. He is not in a home with cats and dogs and does wonderfully. Floki is working on potty training and crate training. He loves to play with his larger dog friends and holds his own very well! Floki will be ready to go to his forever home on June 24th after all of his vetting is completed. He will be neutered, up to date on his DHPP and Bordatella vaccination. He is on a heart work preventative and flea preventative. Email for an application!

During the adoption interview, the adoption counselor will tell you more about the puppy and our adoption processes, as well as answer any questions you have.
Dogs and puppies are up-to-date on their vaccinations, spayed/neutered, de-wormed, treated for fleas/ticks and heartworm negative before leaving rescue. You will receive complete medical records for your dog or puppy at the time of adoption.
The adoption fee is $500 and covers the cost of all veterinary care and transportation to your area.
Our dogs and puppies are delivered via a USDA-certified van transport and receive an Interstate Health Certificate -- issue by a licensed, accredited veterinarian -- no more than 10 days before the dog or puppy leaves rescue.
All of our dogs and puppies come into rescue from the 'death row' of animal shelters in the south, or are owner surrenders or strays who were 'pound bound' before coming into rescue. Adopting a dog or puppy from the Dixie Pet Underground Railroad means you are truly part of a partnership to save the life of the dog or puppy that you welcome into your family.
Our dogs and puppies are fostered at our rescue in Tennessee, meaning that it isn't possible to meet the dog or puppy before adoption. Our adoption counselor works with you to do everything possible to ensure that there is a good match between the family and the dog. We have had several hundred dogs adopted using this process and most of the time, it results in happy puppies and happy people.
If for any reason an adoption is not successful, the Dixie Pet Underground Railroad will work with the adopter to find the best possible solution for the dog and the adopting family.
We can provide contact information for adopters in your area who can tell you about their experience partnering with the Underground Railroad to save the life of a dog and make the animal a part of their family. We look forward to hearing from you and working with you to find the right dog for your family!

About Dixie Pet Underground Railroad (CT)

About Our Rescue Group...

Three 9-month-old feral puppies began the Dixie Pet Underground Railroad. When Beth Foster was faced with the prospect of finding homes for three feral puppies -- Jackie, Zorra and Freckles -- she was at a loss. There were 7,000 perfectly adoptable dogs and cats being killed in her county's animal shelter -- not to mention the thousands and thousands of others being killed at other shelters in the area. Where could three terrified feral puppies find a home? Through chance meetings or divine intervention, Beth was introduced to Cindy Rhoda of Pooches on the Move. Zorra and Freckles quickly found homes in the northeast (Jackie stayed with Beth) and the Dixie Pet Underground Railroad had begun. In the ensuing months, Beth and Betti Gravelle, executive director of Dixie Dogs & Cats, emptied Cleveland Animal Control of all its dogs and cats twice--sending the pets to forever homes in the northeast and the Dixie Pet Underground Railroad really began to move. Dixie Dogs & Cats, a registered 501(c)3 is the parent organization with two divisions -- Dixie Day Spay, a low-cost spay neuter/clinic, and the Dixie Pet Underground Railroad, a pet rescue and adoption agency.

Our Adoption Process...

Our dogs are mainly fostered in TN at our parent rescues. We have many wonderful dogs looking for homes! All of them are completely vetted and neutered/spayed (if age appropriate) and on heartworm protection. All of them come with complete medical records. Their adoption fee of $450 covers their complete age appropriate vetting and heartworm preventative as well as their transportation to your area.

Our rescue doesn't have an actual shelter building in the New England area. Due to this it is not possible to meet them prior to their adoption. Our dogs are brought up to their new owners weekly! We have a 14 day no questions asked money back guarantee and the dog can be returned to us if things don't work out. We try hard to get good matches in our homes so that everyone has a happy life together!
We have many, many, references of happy adopters up in your area that can fill you in on their experience. Just email and we can pass along that information for your convenience.
