We have gotten to know Apollo in the last few weeks and he has absolutely stolen our hearts. He has LOADS of personality and is full of energy. Do NOT let the age fool you – Apollo acts like a dog half his age. He loves people of all ages and gives himself completely to whoever is paying attention to him. He loves to snuggle, play with toys, and plays well with our Iggies - wrestling matches and tug-of-war are regular occurrences in our house! Apollo was an only dog before coming to Rescue, but after seeing him with our dogs, he would do well with a playmate. Above all, Apollo needs to be in a home where he gets lots of attention and would do best in a home where he is not left alone for long hours.
Apollo is potty trained and crate trained and even chooses to sleep in his crate at night. (We leave the door open when we go to bed and he usually sneaks into our room in the wee hours of the morning for a little snuggle time.) He also loves to go for walks. *Due to a previous incident involving too much stress across his neck, Apollo has a sensitive trachea and cannot be pulled or leashed by the neck as it causes him to cough. He comes with his own special harness that allows him to go for walks without putting pressure on his throat.
Apollo is an over-all healthy and active boy. He does have a type of skin cancer that can be influenced by lengthy exposure to the sun, so outdoor sunbathing should be kept to a minimum.
If you are looking for a sweet, loyal, loving fur baby, then Apollo is the dog for you!
