Facts about Candy

  • Breed: Pug/Chihuahua Mix
  • Color: Black
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Unknown
  • Sex: Female
  • ID#: 10114488
Candy came to Pug Luv from a shelter where she was surrendered by her owner.  She is a 6 year old Pug mix, up to date on DHLLP, Rabies, Bordetella, heart worm, fecal and blood tested, housebroken, crate trained, good with other dogs and children.  She was transferred to Pug Luv because her blood tests revealed she had high glucose levels and is diabetic.  The shelter does not treat these conditions and would have otherwise been euthanized.  Candy has become very resistant to taking her insulin shots and even trying to use a muzzle has not worked.  It has been decided to discontinue the use of the insulin and allow her to live comfortably without traumatizing her until such time as the diabetes results in a quality of life that is not acceptable.  She is a very sweet girl who just enjoys laying around on the bed or in an easy chair.  She also enjoys short sun baths in the yard.  She knows how to sit, lay down and shake when asked.  If you would like to adopt Candy and provide her with a loving home for whatever time she has left, go to and click on the Adopt tab on the left of the home page.  From there you can download, print, complete and mail in an Application for Adoption to begin the adoption process.

Our Adoption Process...

Adoption donations range from $150-$400 based on age and medical conditions. Our Pugs are examined by a vet, spay/neutered,microchipped, immunized for Rabies, Corona, DHPP, and Bortella. Each Pug is heartworm and fecal tested, placed on heartworm preventative. Where it is determined that a dental cleaning is necessary, one is done as well as any other procedures deemed necessary to bring the Pug to good health.
