Cooper doesn't look it, but he is 12 years old. He came to us when he was 10 years old. I felt sorry for him and his owner. The guy that owned him had him since he was a puppy. He had recently gotten married and Cooper was unable to transition into a family with two small children. He was totally stressed out and snapping. Now I know what my answer would have been, but the guy was committed to making his marriage work, so Cooper had to go.

He had a real rough transition at first. He hated being at the facility. I took him my house, and he still wasn't happy. For the first six months he barked constantly. One day he followed me to the kennel and met the puppies. From then on he found his place in the world. He rules the quarantine room. He set up shop in a bottom kennel and he supervises al the workers and volunteers. He is happy as a lark. He loves the new puppies. He wants to babysit. When I was taking pictures, he kept getting on the table to make sure the babies were ok.

I'm not sure that Cooper would be a good candidate at this point for a new home, unless the person had a lot of patience and love to give him. He would really appreciate people sponsoring him. He still gets all the special treatment our adoptable dogs get. Every month he gets heartworm preventative, he gets a Bravecto pill every 90 days and he gets treats and toys. We are committed to letting him have a happy life, but as he ages his care will be more costly.

About A Doggie 4 You (a dba of 10th Life Surgical)

Our Adoption Process...

Applications are taken for the animal of interest. These applications are reviewed with the intent of selecting the best fit for the dog/puppy. A Doggie 4 You reserves the right to do a home visit. A contract is required for the final adoption. Adoption fees are between $150 and $250 depending on the age and breed of the dog. Generally the fee is $150.00. All animals are fully vetted (shots, spay/neuter) and micro-chipped before being released. Adopters who decide they no longer want an animal, are required by the contract to return the animal to A Doggie 4 You.
