Good with Children: Unknown.
Good with Dogs: Yes, good with our 4 Setters, but probably needs a gentle dog companion who wouldn’t knock her over…
Good with Cats: Unknown.
Housetrained:Yes, has an occasional accident if not watched like a hawk :)
Crate trained: Yes, she sleeps in crate at night with out any difficulty.
Leash trained: Yes, she walks well on a leash.
Activity Level: GiGi is a very low-keyed, laid back kind of lady
Fence: GiGi does not need a fence for her activity level. She would be fine with short leash walks. When in the yard, she must be on lead or in a fenced area since she has hearing and sight problems
Behavior: GiGi is a sweet, gentle-natured girl. She likes to be around her people….she usually follows us when we leave the room. She likes to be petted and brushed…just a real love of a girl!
Medical History: GiGi came to us quite under weight at 32# and is up to 39# now. We’ve been working on trying to find dog food she likes to eat….she is a picky eater…typical Setter…!!!
She has moderate sized cataracts, which causes her to have difficulty seeing in dimly lit conditions.
She also seems to be quite hard of hearing….
And lastly, she is unable to sit due to her lumbar-sacral (back) arthritis issues.. We are giving her Rimadyl daily for this.
GiGi is spayed and up to date on vaccines.
Foster Comments: Gigi is a very sweet girl who loves to be with her people. She gets along very well with our 4 Setters, but it would be nice to have her placed in a less active household because of her health issues.
She can go up 2-3 stairs by herself but is unable to navigate anymore stairs than that by herself without being carried. We have wooden stairs so they are of course way too slippery for her to try and go up and down….
She sleeps at night in a kennel without difficulty and is housebroken……but must be watched carefully. She will come to the back door when she has to go to the bathroom, so she is pretty predictable.
She naps a lot during the day because of her age in a nice comfy bed in the living room….
She is a very sweet soul who would love to live out her final years with a loving, caring family or companion.

In most cases volunteer transport is available for your adopted dog to within 2 hours of your home.
Above and Beyond English Setter Rescue is not a shelter, but a group of volunteers who are committed to finding excellent homes for the dogs in our program. All of our dogs are living in foster homes in states across the country. Often times a dog is not geographically close to where an adopter lives. When possible, transport assistance is provided at no cost to the adopter. Our transports are coordinated by the Above and Beyond ES Rescue Transport volunteers and driven by volunteers. For more information and to complete an application, please visit the Above and Beyond English Setter Rescue website, http://www.esrescue.org/Application.html
