Let me introduce you to our precious “dilute tortie”, Ms. Wonderful…and what a wonderful kitty she is, despite a tough start in life!
Late last April, this precious Southern girl found herself in big trouble. She was barely 8 months old, homeless, hungry, and very pregnant. Thank goodness, she met some precious humans from Angels Among Us Pet Rescue; they found her a foster home with plenty of nutritious food, a warm bed, access to good vet care, and a safe place to deliver her babies. This much too-young momma and her five precious babies thrived.
Fast-forward to today, three of her babies have found their forever homes. One daughter, Whiskeroo, is being fostered at another volunteer’s home. Ms. Wonderful and her daughter, Ruggles, are being fostered with me. I call her “Lil Momma”, as she is smaller in stature than her now 8-month old daughter. She is a sweetheart, and despite being an accomplished and loving mom, she is VERY young. Lil Mama is probably no more than 16 months old…just a baby herself. She has been spayed, is up-to-date with vaccines, is micro-chipped, has perfect litter manners, uses the scratching posts regularly, and loves to lie near her human at night. MW also politely waits for her daughter to choose which food bowl ‘baby-girl” wants before Momma chooses to eat. And as she was being introduced to my personal kitties, she made it clear that Ruggles (although bigger) is her baby, and she will protect her if they get too rough!
She has some adorable quirks. She prefers to drink water from a tiny stream from the faucet…or your glass, if you aren’t paying attention. She also turns a half-somersault when she greets you in the morning. She dips her head to the side and then, flips over it…so adorable! Like her daughter, she, too, loves to play. She is particularly fond of her “Eeeks” mouse that I’ve dipped in catnip. She carries it into the dry bathtub and bats it around the tub, often in the middle of the night.
Again, she has proven herself to be a great momma, but it is time for her to move along from her somewhat bittersweet past. She deserves happiness. If you are interested in this gorgeous, young “dilute tortie”, please contact us. She is truly awesome!
