Nakota. My name means “Strong Spirit.” And I will need a strong spirit to regain my confidence and bravery. Sorry this is so long, but I need to tell you about me. I am Nokota, and I am a rescue puppy. I am a 5-month old, male, short coat Border Collie and I weigh about 32lb, and I still have some growing to do. I will probably be about 50lb when fully grown—so, I am not a tiny dog. I am a little sad right now. I was rescued from a scary place, but I am still very frightened. I know everyone is trying to help me, but it is difficult to trust humans because I was not treated well in the only home I knew. But I am smart, resilient and have a strong spirit from my name. I will recover, and I hope you will consider helping me on my journey. I love other dogs, and I want so badly to play with them. And I met a cat and wanted to play with him too...I’m not sure he liked me as much. So, if I could have a home with another dog, I know it will help my recovery. After all, I am just a baby. And while I am looking for a home, I want to find a forever home. So, please make sure you understand my breed. Border Collies have a strong herding instinct, high energy and very quick minds. And in the right environment, we make great pets. But we Border need mental and physical stimulation, structure and love and an owner who spends time with us. If not given a job, we find our own and you may not like the job we choose. Some people give us up because they become frustrated, but we are great dogs...just high energy and high intelligence, and we are very sensitive dogs. So, if you want a running partner, if you want to do agility training, or fun at the park with frisbees, then a Border Collie is the dog for you. My foster home is working with me on my house training (I lived outside before) and I am already using my crate. I still need to be neutered, but that will happen very soon. So, if you love Border Collies and understand our needs, will you consider giving me, Nakota, a forever home? And will you promise to teach me, keep me close and keep me exercised and happy? If you can do all these things, I will be a very happy and loyal dog. Make a donation in this dog's name at http://www.angelsrescue.org/donate.
