My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Let me introduce myself, my name is Layla. I’m a 4 year old beautiful black Chow mix with the prettiest purple tongue you’ve ever seen! Everyone comments on it so I think it’s my signature trade mark. ;) I have a serious playful spirit that is simply contagious. I’ll keep you young; mind, body & spirit. You’ll feel like a kid running around the backyard with me. I’ll keep you fit & in shape hiking every mountain we see fit. Cooling off in the lake then go roll around in the dirt! Oh how much fun we will have. The cool breeze kissing my face, the sun sparkling on my fur & the moon light dancing in my eyes. I enjoy the great outdoors so much but I don’t want to experience it alone. I want to have you by my side.

I’m an intelligent girl who needs a dedicated teacher. I have the desire & a drive to learn everything I can. I’ve already accomplished the art of sit & I must say I’m pretty good at it! I’ll let you in on a secret, some days I have trouble focusing but if you have patience, continue to work with me & give me lots of love & praise I promise I’ll pay attention & give you my all. Really my biggest fault is no one has ever devoted the time to my studies so we need to learn how to speak the same language.

Do you truly believe in love? Do you have faith that there is someone you share a special connection with? A force so strong that we are gravitated to each other. Do you have dreams about me? I know I have dreams about you…

Now what if our paths never crossed? What if I took a left, when you took a right? What if you took the beaten path, while I choice the path less traveled? What if another pup caught your eyes first? These are just some of the things I wonder about every day I don’t find my family.

My friends at the shelter assure me I’m just over analyzing things. They tell me my time will come too just be patient. I don’t want to be patient anymore. I can’t wait for the day you walk through the door & say we are here for LAYLA! It will be magical, it will be glorious & it will be forever!

I’m looking for an active family, one who enjoys the great outdoors. I might enjoy having another pup around as long as they aren’t too bossy. Hmmmm what about kitty cats you ask? Can I chase them?!?! No? Then I guess a home without them is a must. I prefer the companionship of adults as kids are too difficult for me to read. They send mix messages, I don’t know what they want from me & when you least expect it they are chasing after you. OMD sorry not the life for me. I want my home to be a calm, nurturing, relaxing environment. Now that you have read my bio will I see you soon? Stop by, ask the nice girls in the lobby if you can meet Layla. Having visitors is my favorite time of day!

Note: As with all of our dogs, we strongly recommend obedience classes for new owner and dog to create a life-long bond with the adopted dog based on trust, respect and rewarding training experiences. We are offering dog training classes through FMAS Wagtime Dog Training. You can check out more information at www.fmaswagtime.com. We can help you train practical skills you use every day with positive reinforcement training. Our shelter dogs are strays and we observe and assess their behavior at the shelter which may be somewhat different in a home environment. In addition dogs adopted from the Manchester Animal Shelter are spayed/neutered, microchipped and have received their Rabies and distemper vaccinations as well as other necessary medical care such as flea treatment. All dogs are also heartworm tested. Some prudent care such as heartworm medication is not provided at the shelter and should be taken care of at the earliest convenience upon adoption.
