About Regional Animal Shelter

About Our Shelter...

The Regional Animal Shelter is a volunteer run not-for-profit, no-kill animal shelter founded in 2002. The doors of our Annex opened in May of 2012. It is our goal to provide immediate shelter and care for any and all homeless or abused animals and shelter them until such time as they are redeemed to their owners, adopted into new families, or humanely dealt with. We intend to provide services 24 hours a day, 7 days a-week, and respond to the public and municipalities that we serve.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We are open from 7-9am and 4-6pm, seven days a week. The Annex only houses dogs, but our volunteers do have cats in foster.

Our Adoption Process...

Adopting from Regional Animal Shelter is an easy process which will help you find the dog that is perfect for you and your family. It involves finding out a little about you and your home, visiting with the dogs and talking with one of the animal shelter professionals. After you have met and decided which amazing animal you would like to adopt, we will ask that you fill out an application. Applications are available at the shelter; they must be completed in full and returned to the shelter office. If you are unable to make it to the shelter, please contact us and we will send you an application.

From there you can expect:.

~You will be called for an interview and a home visit will be scheduled at that time.
~If you currently own other pets you will also need to schedule a meet and greet between the animals. This will ensure that your family members will all get along with your new addition and can be done at the shelter if preferred.
~You must have proof of vaccination before your dog can be let into the shelter’s yard or if we meet at your home and/or at a neutral location.

The animal adoption fee is $195 for dogs. The animal adoption fee includes the spay/neuter, microchipping, heart worm testing, Rabies vaccination, 5-in-1 vaccination (against canine distemper, canine hepatitis, adenovirus cough (kennel cough), parainfluenza, and parvovirus), Lyme vaccination, nail trim and flea treatment (if necessary). An adoption contract will be finalized at the time of adoption. Payment can be made by cash or check only and is due prior to or at the time of adoption.
