Please submit an application AND do NOT also contact the shelter. You will be contacting both the adoption coordinator and the marketing director, who do not see each other's emails. This causes confusion.
NELSON is the greatest dog possibly ever! He loves every person and dog he meets. His big goofy head and sweet demeanor make him downright irresistible to all who meet him. His foster parents say he is a dream and was an easy fit in their household from day one. NELSON is happy to go on walks, hikes, and car rides. He is also a snuggling and lounging expert. He spends most of his evenings in some adorable position on the couch or in the bed. He lives with a senior girl and a 2 year old dog in his foster home. He is fantastic with both of them. He is a star at doggy daycare! He thoroughly enjoys socializing with other pups, but since he isn't an overly hyper guy daycare isn't something he needs in order to be happy. He doesn't live with any cats currently, but we can't imagine cats being an issue with this guy. NELSON doesn't mind his crate and knows not to potty in the house. This 2 year old hunk is both an excellent family dog and an ideal sidekick for a single person or couple. If you are searching for an easy going, happy, handsome addition to your family, NELSON is your guy.
NELSON is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations. His $300 adoption fee includes the cost of transport to Nashville.

All of our dogs start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, they travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Alpha Dog Pet Transport for our New England, Nashville, and Knoxville adoptions (https://alphadogtransport.com) and The Road Home Pet Transport for our Midwest adopters (https://www.facebook.com/roadhomepettransport).
Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff.
Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding.
