Baxter's Story...
Baxter came in with another dog – both were a dirty mess and had been neglected. Now that he is with Wonder Dog, he is safe but scared and needs a little time to come around. He is sweet and friendly. Baxter is a male and is 15-20 pounds. He is a terrier mix.

Updated from the foster, July 2016:

Baxter is doing great. He is a very sweet lovely boy. He rides in the car well, loves to be petted, groomed, and belly rubs. He seeks and gives affection. He enjoys going for walks at Stow Lake in Golden Gate Park to watch the paddle boats and geese going by. He walks very well on the leash, but is a little scared when people or dogs are walking toward him. All he does is get on the other side of me away from them. He did very well at the dog park, prancing around with his tail up and did greet some of the dogs and people. He was on the leash so did not play, but is getting more playful and “puppyish” all the time and being more “puppyish” and now wants to run and play at home. Overall he is a great little guy and has a loving soul. He deserves a great family!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Baxter, a San Francisco Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Schnauzer (Miniature) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Schnauzer (Miniature) for sale in San Francisco, or seeking a Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Schnauzer (Miniature) dog from a breeder in San Francisco.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in San Francisco already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a San Francisco breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Schnauzer (Miniature) breeders who help with Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Schnauzer (Miniature) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in San Francisco paves the way for another one to be saved.
