Hi everyone. Meet two impossibly cute 6 month old chihuahua brothers named Casper and Farley. At their tender age they ended up in California shelter, already homeless just as their lives were beginning. When they arrived in the care of HALDR they were both very thin. But despite their low weight they are healthy and energetic pups. Because they have had a tough start to life and because they are highly bonded to each other, whining if the other isn't in the same room, HALDR has decided that they need and deserve to be adopted together. Both are very affectionate and eager to please. Farley (the one with the beautiful black highlights) is a little more independent than Casper, who loves to be by your side as much as possible. Both are loving and affectionate and very quick to bond. They are great with other dogs, cats, kids and even rabbits. The outside world is still a bit scary for both of them and they will bark at any strange noises or unfamiliar people. But that is getting better the more exposure they get. Both are very smart and quick learners and were taught within a few days how to sit and lay down. They are not yet house trained and may not be by the time they are adopted so will need a patient and understanding home willing to train them. Typical of puppies they are full of energy one minute, then snuggling up beside you for a cuddle and nap the next. These loving and great natured pups are full of joy and adoration and will fill your home with love and laughter. They are neutered and up to date on their vaccinations. Their adoption fee together is $800

About Home at Last Dog Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Home at Last Dog Rescue is a small group of volunteer animal lovers whose goal is to help homeless, neglected and abused dogs find caring and responsible homes.

Our volunteers are dedicated individuals who have joined together to form a new rescue group. We are commited to helping dogs in need and to provide them a second chance at a happy life.

Our dogs are not kept in a shelter. We depend on the support of caring and compassionate people to care for our dogs until we can find them permanent, loving homes. We provide vet care and rehabilitation to all of our dogs.

Our Adoption Process...

If you are interested in adopting a rescue dog, the first step is to search through the list of our dogs currently available for adoption. All dogs remain on Adoptapet and our website ( until an adoption is finalized so all dogs listed may be applied for.

Our job is to find the right home for each of our dogs. We will contact you to arrange for a home check at your convenience. Unfortunately, many of our applications are rejected, not necessarily because there is anything wrong with the home, but because it is not the right match for the dog. Following a successful home visit, we will arrange for you to meet the dog, usually in their foster home. At that time, you will decide if you would like to adopt the dog.

Before an adoption can be finalized, we will ask you to sign an adoption contract. Depending on the dog’s personality you may be asked to visit the dog once or twice before taking him or her home. This will be most common with shy, timid dogs. Outgoing and confident dogs can most often be taken home after the first meeting. Documentation for each dog will be provided upon adoption. Adopters must be ready to pick up their adopted dog home as soon as they have been approved and have agreed to adopt the dog. Home At Last Dog Rescue BC cannot hold dogs for people who have applied but are not yet ready to accept the dog into their home.

Please note: an adoption fee is required for successful applications. The adoption fee is non-refundable, even if the dog is subsequently returned. Home At Last Dog Rescue BC will always take back one of our dogs for any reason, and without question. Adoption fees for our dogs vary. The price varies based on the age and medical needs of the dog being adopted; costs are judged on a case by case basis.
