Introducing Papi!

You may remember the 7 beautiful Pit Bull puppies that Heather's Foster Dogs took in over the winter time, but did you have any idea how unbelievably handsome their daddy was? This gorgeous boy right here is Papi and he is the father to the 7 little angels that were taken in and adopted out this year. Papi was such a great daddy to his babies and now it's his turn to find the perfect forever home. Papi hasn't had the easiest life, he was used for breeding, found running loose more than once, and wasn't well cared for at all. When he was finally relinquished by his owner, he was down to a staggering 33 lbs! You could see every bone in his frail body, and you could tell how weak and defeated he was. Luckily this boy has such a great spirit that he never let anything get him down. Even as a starving, emaciated, weak, neglected boy, he was nothing but smiles and tail wags. After a little over a month of some true TLC, Papi was able to get back up to his muscular self at 54 lbs.

Papi sure has been through a lot in his short life of 2 years, but you would never guess it. He is a happy, healthy, playful boy with a lot of love to give. He loves nothing more than climbing in your lap for snuggles and affection. He likes to play with his 2 Pittie foster siblings, but he is quick to go back to lounging around with his favorite humans. He loves chewing on his nylabones and sunbathing outside- he even loves to spend time in his kiddie pool in the summer just splashing around. Papi does have a luxating patella (slippery knee cap) in his right knee, and though it is not painful and doesn't slow him down at all, he needs a family that understands that he benefits greatly from joint supplements and might need some help with arthritis down the road. He also needs to keep a healthy weight so that it doesn't put too much pressure on his knee. He is in perfect shape now and pain free. Papi is heartworm negative, neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and ready to find the perfect home!

Papi is a social and energetic dog who needs a family with a fenced yard, maybe a buddy to play with and a family who has time to spend with him to exercise him, play out in the yard with him and just hang out.

Papi's adoption fee is $255. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on age appropriate vaccinations.

About Heather's Foster Dogs

About Our Rescue Group...

Heather’s Foster Dogs strives to educate people through public interaction and to ease shelter populations by placing animals in temporary foster homes where we can address medical and behavioral problems while actively searching for permanent placement. Together, we seek to promote compassion and kindness to all animals, to increase awareness of companion animal overpopulation, and to advocate for responsible pet ownership.

Our Adoption Process...

Who We Look For

In short, Heather’s Foster Dogs is looking for responsible, dedicated, and loving pet owners for our foster animals. This means a couple of things:

-You feel that pets are an important part of the family. They do not spend their days and nights living outside in the yard, chained to a doghouse or locked up in a kennel. Pets belong safe and warm in your home.
-You understand that regular veterinary visits with a licensed veterinarian are important to maintaining the health and well being of your pet. This means regular exams, administering medication when prescribed, and keeping your pet up-to-date on vaccinations.
-You believe in POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT training only and will seek the help of an experienced professional trainer if necessary or recommended.
-You understand that adding a pet to your family is a commitment that should last for the ENTIRE LIFE OF THAT PET.

To adopt a dog from Heather’s Foster Dogs, you must…

-Be at least 21 years of age
-Have a valid form of identification (a driver’s license or
state ID)
-Verify that you are allowed to have a dog of the breed
and size where you currently live
-Understand that a fenced yard may be required for a
dog you are interested in
-Understand that training may be required for the dog

-Bring along all household members including any
resident dogs or children to meet the dog you hope to

TO ALL POTENTIAL ADOPTERS: Heather’s Foster Dogs is dedicated to eliminating shelter overcrowding once and for all. We understand the only way to really achieve this goal is by cutting down on the number of unwanted animals born every year. As such, HFD tirelessly promotes spay/neuter for all companion animals, and in fact requires this as part of our adoption agreement. If you currently own an animal that is intact (meaning it is NOT spayed/neutered), and there is no medical reason as to why your pet has not been spayed/neutered, HFD cannot in good faith approve you to adopt one of our foster animals.

PLEASE ALSO NOTE THE FOLLOWING: Heather’s Foster Dogs does NOT ship animals. No matter where you live, no matter how far, you will be expected to meet with HFD in person for your adoption interview and pet pick up.

HFD reserves the right to refuse adoption to any applicant if we feel they are not the best fit for the animal they’ve applied to adopt.

And please, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. Email Heather’s Foster Dogs at and we will be happy to speak with you further.
