Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi, my name is Woodson (aka Woody), and I am about 9 ½ years weighing a petite 14 pounds. I was picked up as a stray in the Chicago area after being on the streets for quite some time. In fact, my nails were so long that they were cutting into my paws, and my ribs protruded from my sides. Thankfully, I was rescued directly after my 7-day stray hold or the animal control center would have put me to sleep since no one cared to claim me.
Being a survivor for so long on my own has me a little slow to adjust back to a home environment including potty training (my foster mom has been using a belly band for little accidents and potty pads), but I am trying my best and go outside often. I do very well with other dogs and basically keep to myself. My foster mom calls me a “nice, sweet old man”, but I can occasionally be grumpy especially about being picked up. I really enjoy when my foster mom pets me, and I feel the other dogs comfort me.
My absolute favorite time of the day is dinner time! I always make sure to follow my foster mom around to make sure I don’t accidentally miss out on my next meal. I am currently working on gaining some weight so my foster mom has been giving me extra portions to fatten me up! I also enjoy wandering around the rooms, which could also be a habit I picked up while living on the land.
Overall, I have a very low energy level and would absolutely love finding a quiet home with a fenced yard (and few steps!) to call my own. I am very healthy with all vaccinations, microchipped, bloodwork, and a recent dental cleaning. I hope that someone will understand that I have had a rough life and really just need love and patience, maybe this person could be you?
