Akelah's Story...
I'm Akelah, a little kitten who is finally growing into his big name! When I first came to my foster family I was so tiny that they called me Itty Bitty Kitty, or IBK for short. But over the last few weeks, I've put a lot of time into eating and playing with my foster siblings. Now I'm ready to adopt my own family, like my namesake in The Jungle Book. My foster family has 4 cats, a dog, and a little boy, so I'm used to lots of activity and people and cats to play with. I'd love to adopt a family that has a young cat…or might even want to adopt two kittens together. And I'd really love it if my forever family had a laser pointer and a shoe box as well. I may be little in size, but I’m growing fast….and definitely big on love and fun and cuteness.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Akelah, a Aldie Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Aldie, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Aldie.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Aldie already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Aldie breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Aldie paves the way for another one to be saved.
