Facts about Luna

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: White (Mostly)
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Female
  • Hair: Short
Luna is a Domestic Short Hair (DSH), white/orange-tabby, female, 2 years of age.

Nothing subtle about Luna’s beautiful eyes – one deeply green the other intensely blue – Luna’s most notable quality isn’t her eyes at all, but rather a host of other traits, among them her terrific personality and extremely loving nature. Sweetly affectionate and highly social, Luna is a people cat who enjoys being handled. She revels in loving attention and shows her appreciation for petting and having her short, lush coat brushed with gentle purrs and head butts. Outgoing and friendly but somewhat subtly and impishly so, Luna is neither shy, nor demanding, but rather always cheerfully content and just happy-to-be-around. She enjoys the company of and likes to play with other cats, and she’s comfortable around well-mannered dogs too. Loving attention and having quite the curious and playful side, Luna is above all else, a sweet little Love-Bug who will never turn-down an invitation for snuggling or lap-time with her people.

We rescued Luna from Monroe County Animal Control where she had been left in the overnight box, injured with a large, infected hole in her neck and shoulder and related systemic infection. Treated for her injury and infection, as well as flea and worm infestations, Giardia, Coccidia, eye infections, ear mites, and dehydration, Luna is now a healthy, happy cat looking for that special person or family she can love and be loved by for the rest of her life.

Happy-to-be-around, easy-to-please, and always present, Luna is a great fit for just about any person or family looking for a new and fabulous feline family member. As with all Monroe SPCA adoptable cats, a home visit and a meet-n-greet with any housemate pets will be required prior to adoption.

Luna currently resides at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Resale Store/The Fur Factory. Come meet her during adoption hours, Tuesday – Saturday, 12:00 pm -2:00 pm; closed Sunday, Monday, and National Holidays. All Monroe SPCA cats available for adoption have an adoption fee of $75.00. This fee includes the cat being spayed or neutered, dewormed, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, and micro-chipped prior to adoption.

About Monroe SPCA

About Our Rescue Group...

Monroe SPCA (Monroe Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is a 501c.3 tax-exempt, non-profit animal welfare and rescue organization incorporated in the State of Michigan in 2010. Monroe SPCA is governed by all-volunteer Board of Directors.

Monroe SPCA’s mission is to save, protect, and improve the lives of animals. One of the ways we accomplish our mission is by being the leading non-profit organization facilitating adoptions and providing medical care and treatment to homeless animals at Monroe County Animal Control. We are also the leading rescuer and rehabilitator of animals at this shelter, finding and securing placement for some of the neediest and most vulnerable animals with partner rescue organizations (all of them no-kill) as well as through our own network of foster homes.

Additionally, Monroe SPCA, now, also provides every dog at Monroe County Animal Control with basic preventative health care which includes flea preventative, deworming(s), DHPP vaccine and booster, and Heartworm Testing. If a dog tests positive for Heartworm, Monroe SPCA also provides that dog with Heartworm Treatment.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process starts with filling out an Adoption Application on the animal you're interested in adopting. Once we've received and reviewed your completed application we’ll contact you, usually within 2-3 days (remember, we're all volunteers). Our adoptions are best-fit placements, meaning we strive to ensure a good match for both, the animal being adopted and the adopter.

Our adoption fee for dogs and puppies is $120.00 to $200.00.
Our adoption fee for cats and kittens is $75.00.

Adoption fee includes the animal being spayed or neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, and micro-chipped prior to adoption as well as all dogs being Heartworm negative or receiving treatment for Heartworm.
