Meet Champ. Champ really wants a wonderful family to adopt her. She has been through so much. Champ was abandoned in a rent house left to starve and suffer from severe Mange along with her other furry friend who didn't make it. She has recovered completely and doing very well. She is in foster care while she waits for her new family to find her. Champ's breed is not really known. Our volunteers can only guess. One suggestion of breed is Brindle staffordshire bull terrier mix. Other suggestions are Corgi/Basset Hound mix. No matter what her breed is, she is such a fun and playful dog. She is guessed to be about 1-3 years old. She is spayed and has all her vaccines. Champ is not house broke but the foster mom is working on training her. She can be shy with other dogs but warms up fast.Champ has been spayed and up to date on vaccines.  If you would like to adopt her, submit our online adoption found at:  All applicants will be screened with a basic background and reference check.

About Santana's Hope 4 Paws

About Our Rescue Group...

Santana's Hope 4 Paws mission is to improve the lives of animals in our community, county, state, and beyond through advocacy, education, and support.

Santana’s Hope for Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of animals. We are licensed with the Missouri Department of Agriculture. SH4P is dedicated to helping with adopting, locating and fostering of helpless animals, and other services to include but not limited to providing rescue services, neutering, spaying, veterinary care and placement services for homeless, sick, and abused animals throughout the United States.
We offer assistance to the citizens, dogs, and cats to help ensure the animal’s safety, happiness, and health. We promote responsible pet guardianship and the humane treatment of animals through community awareness and work toward ending animal overpopulation through education and a variety of programs. We take pride in the work we do - working to keep dogs and cats safe, happy and sheltered. We have several programs set up to help us fulfill our mission. Friends of Steelville Pound is one of our programs.

Friends of Steelville Pound is one of our programs where our volunteers work with the city of Steelville, Missouri to find loving homes for the dogs that enter the city pound. We do not handle the actual adoptions of pets that are in the city pound but only help facilitate the adoptions by advertising and referring approved families to the city of Steelville, MO. However, Santana's Hope 4 Paws facilitates all adoptions of pets in our own rescue and foster program.

Friends of Steelville Pound Mission

Our mission is to recruit and train volunteers who will save lives by increasing pet adoptions at the Steelville City Pound, improve the quality of life for the animals in the pound, promote spay and neuter, help advocate for animal welfare at the state, county and city levels of government to make a lasting impact for Missouri animals, and to facilitate outreach and educational activities about the humane treatment of companion animals throughout the city of Steelville, MO.

Friends of Steelville Pound Vision:
Our vision is for all adoptable animals at the Steelville City Pound to find a forever loving home. We also envision a community where every pet has a permanent and loving home, every companion animal is spayed or neutered, and all pets are treated with respect and compassion.

Come Meet Our Pets...

All applicants will need to set up an appointment to meet our pets. We do not have regular hours at the pound and some of our pets are in foster care that are not in the city pound program. Email us at for appointments.

Our Adoption Process...

If you are ready to adopt a pet today, you will need to complete the application found in the appropriate links. Someone will contact you as soon as possible if you have been chosen or approved to adopt that particular pet. In the event that we get more than one application for the same pet, our volunteers will choose the family that best meets the needs of that pet. It is not first come, first serve.
