Shirley's Story...
Hi. I'm Shirley and I'm still a little scared. I and a lab mix girl and about 8 years old. I weigh 55 lbs. I was a stray and I came from a vet clinic in West Milton. They couldn't keep me but a wonderful vet named Mickey Morgan said I should come here so I could be safe and find a forever home. I'm so glad she didn't give up on me when others did. She saved me and now I get to find a new family. Listen, I know I've got a little grey on my chin, but I am a good girl and just need a loving family to help me find happiness again. It has been so hard out there. Dr. Morgan helped me take my first step to bring me to safety. Won't you please help me take the next step into my new forever home? Please take a chance on me. The younger ones will all get homes quick. Let's show them that you don't have to be a spring chicken to get a new family! And guess what? I'm OK with cats...Miss Lollipop here at the rescue gave me the once over and I passed

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Shirley, a Urbana Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Urbana, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Urbana.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Urbana already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Urbana breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Urbana paves the way for another one to be saved.
