Meet beautiful KASHI (aka Bella) the Chocolate Labrador mix! This beauty needs a special home with experienced dog owners who are loving, patient, and firm. She will thrive in a family that is understanding of her sensitive nature and has another dog that is friendly and likes to play. She is still learning 'how to be a dog' and learns so much from other dogs. She responds very well to clear commands and direction. She is incredibly smart! Please read her entire profile to get a feel for her:She may never do very well with men, but she has been improving around men coming to her foster home. She is protective of her home and owners and has many Sharpei breed like tendencies which we think she may be mixed with. So calm leadership and boundaries are key with her. She can be fearful with new people ( often barks or growls at first) but she warms up when she is in a stable environment and has a firm patient handler to look to and make her feel secure. She warms up to women in the home and bonds closely to them. She is affectionate, likes to play with toys and other dogs. She has even been good with cats given a slow intro, and lived with in harmony without issue. It hasn't been easy to find the right home for her due to her quirks. She is beautiful and a popular dog but we really need to find the home has the skills to set her up for success so we are giving lots of detail on her. She was found as a stray and we think she is around 2 years. She's a petite little lady and about 30 lbs of cuteness. She's crate trained, house trained, and likes to play with other dogs. Once she warms up she's an awesome lap dog. She will crawl right into your lap for snuggle time. She loves to run and play but she's also very mellow for her age and really loves sleeping in and taking naps. She has taken shy dog training classes to help in building her confidence. She really really really loves kids and giving them kisses BUT she also tends to eventually feel she can correct and mother children which can be complicated with growls or nips so we unfortunately need her in a home without young kids due to part of the reason her adoption didn't not work out. We won't put her in a home with kids under 10 due to these issues at this time. She is being fostered through K9 Paw Print Rescue in the Bay Area, California. Please share this sweet girl so we can find her the forever home she deserves! We collaborate with other rescue groups and animal shelters to improve the lives of animals at risk for euthanisia. We work to provide solutions which seek to end the animal over-population and educate people to be responsible pet owners and "fur-ever guardians."
