Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Thor is a three year old Boxer mix that hails from Tennessee, his life up to this point has not been an easy one. Thor landed in a rural animal control facility three different times from roaming, his owner didn't seem to care enough to keep him contained, he at some point was 'de-barked' as well. He can still make some slight vocalizations, but they are strained and difficult for him. Apparently Thor's former 'owner' stopped there with any funds spent on Thor as he was unneutered and heartworm positive when he came into rescue. Thor has now completed heartworm treatment and is in the home stretch of his cage rest period. He is now looking for his forever home! Thor is fairly active, being a young dog, and is still working on his leash training and basic skills, he is crate trained and has good house manners. He is treat motivated and eager to learn and please his person. Thor seems to do well with dogs his own size or larger that are not pushy. He has not been around cats, and due to his exhuberant nature, we feel he would likely do best in a home with no kitties. Thor would also do fine as an 'only dog' as well. So many people have come together to help make this boys life better; Helping Paws Animal Network, headed up by Amy Starkey, generously covered his Heartworm treatment, Cyn Mobley, who overseas The Waystation, a 501c3 charity providing infrastructure and support as well as temporary kenneling to rescues, has been extremely kind in serving as Thor's temporary home during his kennel rest period following heartworm treatment, and Stephen Blackwell of Dogwood Daycamp is assisting with Thor's basic training starting this week. It takes a village, and this boy has many folks who have rooted for him and who believe in him! Here is what Cyn has to say about Thor as he is nearing the end of his cage rest period: "He thinks the hardest part about crate rest is that he is BORED! He is making the best of it though. I've told him there is a family waiting for him after all this is over and he can't wait to meet them!" We are now accepting applications and inquiries for Thor's placement!
