ADOPTED ON 08-04-16 CAN COME NORTH AFTER JUNE 30TH This beautiful little girl with the sweetest puppy eyes you have ever seen was left behind like garbage with her handsome brothers at a rental house when some thoughtless tenants decided they weren’t worth keeping. They survived on their own for a while until a call came in and they were rescued. Unfortunately, they were in horrible shape. They were skinny, covered in fleas, and almost bald from a bad case of mange. No puppy should ever have to endure the discomfort of these parasites, and their personalities now are testament to what sweet natured and loving pups they will be when they become a part of a family.

Ruby is Vizsla / Lab Mix who just loves to wrestle and tumble around with her siblings. She is a bit shy at first, no wonder, after being deserted, but warms up quickly when given loving attention. She loves to be touched and is starving for attention. Ruby is gentle, humble and very easy-going. So far, she gets along with everyone and all the other dogs at her foster home. Ruby is very smart and eager to please. She will be easy to train in her new home and will sure to be a joy to have around. Will you open your heart and home to Ruby and add her to your family? Ruby is craving a home to call her own with her own people to love her. She is so sweet she will not let you down!

What is it that dogs have that human’s lack? Ruby previous owner discarded her and left her to fend for himself. Dogs give comfort to people when they are upset. It is a fact dog lovers have known for a very long time. A study was done that revealed that dogs truly do respond to human tears and will naturally try to reassure a distressed person. It also turns out dogs will try and comfort anyone who cries, not just their owner. Although there is no way to know for sure if dogs can understand why someone is sad and needs comforting, the study does point out that dogs respond to human emotions.

Thanks to her hard-working foster family, she is healthy and growing fast. Our southern rescuers are the front line of angels that save our dogs, they give their time, money and most important, their hearts to the dogs they save. They work long hours to take care of all our dogs and give with their whole heart and truly loves each and every one of the dogs. They ask for nothing and RDV is truly honored to work with such special people.

Our southern rescuers can have as many as 20 dogs on their property, if not more dogs at one time, and the challenges that go along with the care of the dog can also sometimes mean sacrifices with their personal lives. So it is not only the foster that do the work, the family members also participate on a daily basis. They never ask for money or even a thank you and it is important that they know that we appreciate their sacrifices and the updates you send help them after the adoption help them see that one of the dogs they worked with is doing well--is like opening an unexpected gift for them. It gives them great joy to see the dogs happy and healthy in loving homes like yours.

Ruby deserves a loving family who will show her what a truly happy ending is. She has come a long way indeed, and should be loved as a true member of the family. This adorable girl is looking for a loving family that will dote on her and treat her as she deserves--a lifetime cherished member. Our rescue works from our hearts for our dogs; it is the least we can do for them because they deserve nothing less.

Ruby is ready to slide right into your heart, do you have the requirements of a forever home of his own and endless love to celebrate her special qualities? Now all she needs is many years where she can continue to be a happy and loyal member of a family. Will you open your heart to her and give her the love she so deserves? In return, her companionship and friendship will be with you every day, rain or shine.

ABOUT THE BREED
Cur dogs are devoted to family, but may be wary of strangers. They are a medium size dog originating in southeastern Kentucky by the Stephen Family, developed from a strain of Mountain Cur, this breed is nicknamed "Darkie" for its dark, rich coat color.

These dogs are very responsive to kindness and are family-oriented but wary of strangers. Curs have an outstanding disposition and love kids. They are protective of the property and family, but not overly protective or aggressive. Basically, they have the sense to know when there's trouble and when there's not. People who have these dogs say owning a Cur is an enjoyable endeavor for the whole family. They will amaze you daily and will try to please you every way they physically can. As one owner said, he "believed they would cut wood for him if they could."

CHILDREN & PETS
Cur dogs do well around other dogs, they are easy to train and get along with children. It's a happy and playful dog that loves to frolic and have a good time with kids. All dogs need plenty of opportunities for exercise each and every day.

BEHAVIOUR AND PERSONALITY
Cur is easy to train, are highly trainable and courageous. As with all dogs, humans should establish dominance in the relationship right away to avoid behavioral issues. This dog is smart and loves positive reinforcement with a kind and gentle demeanor.

PERSONALITY
Due to their high intelligence, we humans live with dogs, we become their pack. The entire pack cooperates under a single leader. Lines are clearly defined and rules are set. Humans MUST be higher up in the order than the dog. The humans must be the ones making the decisions, not the dogs. That way your relationship with your dog can be a complete success.

TEMPERAMENT
Many people have said that the Cur dogs will not get along with cats and other small animals which others have found that if you teach them from a young age they will respect all animals inside the home. At times she can be very precious and at other times very bold and brave. They loves games and seems to do well in a suburban setting with lots of exercise. They love daily walks and love to play fetch. They are shy around strangers, not aggressive but very submissive.

About Our Rescue

These dogs deserve all of our attention, and in Rescue Dog Village, we are committed to our adopters and our dogs equally. We offer full disclosure and hope to make the best matches possible. Please know our adoption fees never cover our expenses. We rely on the generosity of our adopters and supporters to help us help the dogs.

Our rescue is ONLY in the business of offering FULL DISCLOSURE to adopters, and expects and hopes to engage your questions and concerns fully. We owe it to the dogs we rescue and all the wonderful families/adopters who might consider welcoming our charges into their hearts and home. Our dogs are waiting for that ideal forever home where they will be cherished as deserving family members. It's sad these second chances are even necessary for these dogs, but we are committed to them and will devote the time and energy to their rehoming, and not just MOVE them to save more dogs. We diligently and responsibly seek good matches as we don't want to re-home the dog again. These animals have already endured more than they should have, and through no fault of their own. It behooves us to be honest and forthright, and we appreciate the same in return from applicants. It's that winning combination of reciprocal trust and respect that allows for successful placements to be made. Happy adopters translate to happy dogs, and that's our goal!

Our rescue volunteers will be more than honored to be in touch with you directly and promptly, after receiving your application and conducting a mandatory a veterinarian check. If you have never owned a dog before, please submit your application regardless, and we will be in touch with you as soon as possible. TAKE NOTE YOU SHOULD CHECK YOUR SPAM AS SOME RESPONSES FROM US WIND UP THERE WE'VE DISCOVERED. Also, take care to contact your veterinarian to let them know a member of rescue will be inquiring about your pet history!

Thank you for respecting that we all donate our time to saving these animals, and understand we value your philanthropic and compassionate desire to help be part of the rescue team. That said, you'll understand why we are committed to the well-being of our charges and consider this veterinarian check mandatory. If you are a first-time dog owner, we will work with you every step of the way! ADVOCACY AND EDUCATION ARE AS MUCH A PART OF RESPONSIBLE RESCUE AS ADOPTION! And it takes a RESCUE VILLAGE to help the most dogs possible in a thorough manner to ensure success on all fronts, and then some! It is an awful feeling to fail a dog, and we can't continue rescue if we don't do everything we can to ensure good matches for the dogs and tender families who might adopt them. THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING.

Although we are an extremely small rescue group, we understand and respect your family's eagerness to be in touch and learn as much as you can about the dogs you are considering adopting. Our very experienced and devoted trainer will be happy to share all aspects of OUR RESCUE DOGS to determine compatibility once you've submitted your application, and another of our volunteers will explain the whole process of our rescue and answer any questions you might have as well

If you have the time and love to offer this extremely bright dog who can make you laugh for hours at his antics, PLEASE APPLY TO BE CONSIDERED FOR A RESCUE DOG VILLAGE DOG AND GIVE ONE A HOME. Our dogs deserve all that a committed family can offer. Make no mistake about it, this is one spectacular dog!

Please contact RescueDogVillage@yahoo.com and we will be happy to return your correspondence, but please submit the application now so we can have that information as a starting base for our dialogue.

THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING RESCUE AS A MEANS OF WELCOMING YOUR NEXT FOUR-LEGGED FRIEND INTO YOUR LIFE!

ALL interested adopters MUST complete an application; agree to a vet reference check, phone interview and home visit. ALL family members MUST be in attendance for home visits - no exceptions. This helps us get to know everyone in the family so that we can help find the right dog for you
