Pet Allies in Show Low AZ

Sheba and Ghost are brindle color australian shepherds, beautiful dogs, but they do not have social skills.  Sheba came to us from a man who contacted us to say he had 32 dogs.  He thought he would take in a bunch of puppies and adopt them out for $20 on facebook, and become a rescue group.  That didn't work out and he ended up with 32 dogs.  The problem was he didn't have time to socialize the puppies, especially at the crucial age of 3-4 months, and so they never learned that people are not going to hurt them.  You can touch Sheba, but she doesn't really seem to enjoy it, you can pet her and brush her if you have her in an area where she can't escape.  Same for Ghost, though he is harder to manage to keep still.  He paces and really wants to escape and run free.  He was discovered running wild in the City of Show Low, and after months of neighborhood people feeding him, he was trapped and brought into the shelter.  Both of these dogs could become socialized with a great deal of work on the part of their adopter/rescuer.  Are you that person?  No adoption fee for the right family or sanctuary.

A home visit may be part of the adoption process. To start the adoption process, an online adoption application is available at

Pet Allies, also known as the home of the Barkin Basement Thrift Store at the corner of White Mountain Road and Fawnbrook in Show Low, finds non-lethal solutions to pet overpopulation by offering low-cost spay/neuter services and placing homeless pets in caring homes.  Pet Allies, a non-profit organization, is funded by donations from the community, sales at the Barkin Basement Thrift Store, grants and adoptions.  In October 2012 Pet Allies also entered into a contract with the City of Show Low to operate the City’s animal control shelter where animals may be seen and adopted.
