Blanche's Story...
Blanch was found, more like captured, with her sister while living in a drainage pipe. For several weeks people had tried to catch them but they alluded all attempts, until Mercy Fund stepped in. Hungry, covered in fleas and ticks the sisters understandably were fearful and distrusting. They may never have experience a humans loving touch. With the help of their attentive foster homes, her sister has gained trust and now enjoys human companionship, sadly little Blanch is not so open to change from her feral life in the pipe.

A beauty in young form, Blanch has potential to be molded into a wonderful companion and friend. However, this reward will not come without a dedicated leader. Her breed, thought to be Lab, herding dog (Collie/Australian Shepherd) mix, makes her an intelligent, medium sized dog with a need to work. At 13 lbs and 3 months of age, this little girl had a rough start to life but holds great promise! Her days of fending for herself have made her a bit fearful but her foster mom reports with exposure to different environments she is becoming more social and less fearful. She loves her bright eyes and super soft coat and watching her learn new things.

Blanch loves other dogs and would do best as a second or even third dog as she trust them. She needs a confidant pack leader in four and two legged form. A fenced yard is needed as the fear created in her young life causes her to bolt when approached. There is no telling the trauma this sensitive, intelligent, little girl experienced in her young life but with the help of her foster mom she has learned life as a house dog companion beats living in a ditch any day! (Will come with a contract requiring spay when of age.)

Could you be the strong leader to finish molding this young beauty with such high potential into the fabulous adult dog that's waiting inside her?

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Blanche, a Marion Labrador Retriever/Australian Shepherd puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Australian Shepherd for sale in Marion, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Australian Shepherd puppy from a breeder in Marion.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Marion already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Marion breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Australian Shepherd breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Australian Shepherd rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Marion paves the way for another one to be saved.
