A few months ago Spencer’s world changed forever. He lost his happy home of ten years and ended up at a shelter. One of his owners passed away and the house they loved was foreclosed on, leaving his last living owner without anywhere to go and no other option. Spencer was her inseparable companion, by her side ever minute for his entire life and now here he sits in our shelter, lost.
He is currently living in our Director’s office in a home environment and does well there. He takes a very long time to settle into a new environment, so he will need an owner to be understanding of this. He paces and cries when in a new environment and this may last several months until he truly feels at home. A senior dog deserves nothing but love and comfort in their golden years, and although Spencer take a long time to adjust to a new home, he is worth the effort. He also has some medical conditions that make it difficult for him to make it up and down stairs, so a one-level home would be best for him.
Spencer is dog and cat friendly but a bit hand shy and reserved with new people so we want to place him only with families without young children, 18 and up would be fine.
Please be his hero. Please give him someone else to devote himself to. He feels so lost, please give him a place to belong.
