Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Avis is 3 and just retired from a shorter racing career with an injured toe. She appears to fine with cats, but has met a small dog yet. This lovely red brindle girl was born on St Patrick's Day. She will be available soon.
FOSTER UPDATE:
My name is Avis. My foster mom told me I was named after her mom. That’s really nice. At first, I thought I was named after the rental car company. The fastest car in the world is a rental car. Am I right? When I got to my foster home, I looked in a mirror for the first time in my life and confirmed I am not a shiny metal machine with 4 tires that goes “zoom, zoom”! Instead I am a beautiful (according to my foster parents) brindle greyhound who goes “roo, roo.” Who knew?
I have to spend much of my time right now in a crate since I injured/infected my toe. My foster mom keeps telling me I have to rest. She’s a nurse you know. Really. Not a dog nurse, a people nurse. She’s taking really good care of me and my toe. I consider the crate my pit and her my pit crew. I have SO much energy from being trapped in my crate, I just want to explode out of my crate and run as fast as I can. Apparently that’s not allowed. Hum.
When I’m bored I watch the short, hairy being that walks about the house. My foster mom told me that he is a corgi/terrier and that he is in charge. He seems nice, and, besides, he’s the boss, so I’m making an effort to get along. I passed my cat test, so I’m also willing to live with cats, even bossy ones, as long as they keep their claws and fangs to themselves. Yikes.
I like my pit crew and am happiest when they’re with me. When they’re not, I entertain them with my lovely “rooooo” so they’ll come back and applaud. Sometimes they give me peanut butter in a “kong” to keep me amused and quiet. Hehehe. Works every time. I’ve heard about toys, but so far I’m not really interested…..what’s the point if they don’t have peanut butter inside? A girl needs fuel….
I’m had wonderful dreams about my forever people and home. I can’t wait to zoom around the yard with them, then recharge together with nice naps and snacks. If you see a fun doggie by your side in your dreams, you should look me up.
