We need to find a home for Chaco by June 30; we’ve moved and can’t take him with us, which makes us very sad. Chaco is a boxer/American bulldog mix. He will be 8 this month and has always lived outside. We’ve had him since he was a puppy and went through obedience training with him. He’s up-to-date on all his shots and we’ve always taken him to Butler’s Animal Clinic in Karns. He’s a very sweet boy, but has always been the only outside dog we had. We lived on a small farm and had our side yard fenced for him so he had lots of running room. If we’re out with him he likes other dogs but is protective of me and doesn’t want them near me. We would love to know that he found a good loving home and wish there was some way we could move him with us, but currently don’t believe that is possible. About Shelter Animals Rescue Group (SARG)

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a small, all-volunteer, 501(c)3 nonprofit rescue group, with emphasis on mixed-breed dogs and cats. We adopt primarily from our local animal shelter, although we occasionally take in hardship cases. We also assist individuals in our area by advertising on our website animals they need to rehome, if the animals have been spayed/neutered. We gratefully accept donations, and we need volunteers for many events. More than anything, we need foster homes.

Come Meet Our Pets...

As a volunteer group, we do not have a facility. Our animals reside in foster homes and boarding kennels. We show them regularly at the PetSmart store on Parkside Drive in Knoxville the second Friday of each month, 4 to 8 p.m., as well as by appointment.

Our Adoption Process...

Cat adoption fee is $125, and $145 for dogs. We attempt to match the animal's characteristics with the family and their lifestyle. We require an application form, which becomes part of the adoption contract, a personal or phone interview, veterinarian reference if applicable, home visit, and an additional agreement about how the animal will be treated. Cats must be indoors only, not declawed. Dogs must be fenced or leashed when outdoors and treated as part of the family--indoors as much as possible, and always at night. Adopter agrees to provide regular veterinary care, and to return the animal to us if they ever give it up. We reserve the right to check on the animal's welfare from time to time, with appropriate notice.
