We got a very concerned email from Texas about sweet Lexie ...the shelter was set on finding a home for this very beautiful Poodle/Bichon Frise mix (with the most amazing eyes that speak of great wisdom). It's very unusual to find a silver and black Poodle mix in rescue...they're much more rare than other colors. We've no doubt that Lexie would have had a life as a breeder if she hadn't been recognized for her great temperament and rescued from a life in a cage.
Lexie was brought to the attention of rescuers..they enjoyed her sweetness and quiet companionship . But as stunning as Lexie is on the outside, it just doesn't compare with the love and good-will that flows from the heart of this beautiful girl.
Lexie aced her temperament testing (she passed with flying colors) and got a perfect on her vetting assessment. So...off she went to her New Mexico foster home...to be reminded of respectful house skills and to wait for her transport to Denver and a brand new life. Since Lexie received an A for sweetness, cuddling and general positive behavior, she's ready to be a devoted family member. We envision Lexie in a home either with older and very gentle children who can cuddle and love Lexie with a light touch or she'd be a natural in a home with retirees who will shower time and attention on this devoted and engaging girl.
Lexie has a stunning black coat with the most beautiful silver streaks running through it. As a Poodle/Bichon mix, Lexie is a non-shedder and considered to be one of the most hypoallergenic breed mixes available today. She will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her coat cottony-soft and matt-free.
We would never want Lexie in a situation where she's alone for many hours. Instead we would love for her to be taken along on walks, adventures and visits with dog-loving friends. She's almost impossible not to fall in love with...her manner speaks of softness and light. Lexie also travels like a champ - she loves nothing more than coming along on errands, socializing visits and any adventure that keeps her together with those she loves. She would also be a natural to come along on vacations or getaways (and is a perfect companion and lap dog at 3.5 - 4 years old and 9 lbs..so easy to scoop up and take along). Lexie is so pleasant with everyone that she attracts admirers everywhere she goes. But it will definitely be the special lap and familiar touch that will draw Lexie back to her family every time...she's a one-family girl!
