Lola's Story...
Looking for love? Me too! I'm Lola, an 8-year old 9-pound Maltese. Here's the thing. Until recently, I spent my whole life as a breeder in a nasty place called a puppy mill. Breeders don't learn how be dogs or do normal dog things, so I'm learning all that now. My foster family that you sure can teach an "old" dog new tricks! Because of this, I need to go to a home with another dog who can show me the ropes. I am very playful and like to 'wrestle' with other small dogs so I'd be a great buddy for someone. I learned quickly that I like chewing on toys and bones, too. The dog life is pretty sweet! I am learning to trust my humans. Sometimes new humans scare me and I like to run and hide. I am working hard on my house training and am great in my crate. I am treat motivated so having a family who will be patient and teach me new things to help build my confidence is key! Right now I don't even know what a leash is. I'm just learning to be outside in this thing my foster family calls a yard! My forever family will need to have a fenced in yard to keep me safe and to be patient while I learn the finer points of exploring. I am up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and spayed. No more litters for this girl! My adoption fee is $200. Please apply at Thanks!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lola, a Grand Rapids Maltese dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Maltese for sale in Grand Rapids, or seeking a Maltese dog from a breeder in Grand Rapids.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Grand Rapids already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Grand Rapids breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Maltese breeders who help with Maltese rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Grand Rapids paves the way for another one to be saved.
