My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

BLOCKIE is a 1.5 year old neutered black male Lab who weighs 90 pounds. Blockie is a young, sweet, but big boy! He is house trained and crate trained and good on leash. He is good with other dogs. Blockie is a big boy that should go to an experienced owner that will continue his training. He has not had a lot of guidance in his past and can be a little headstrong at times. He wants to please and does best with structure and consistency. Once he knows the routine and what is expected of him it is smooth sailing! He is a little leery of new folks but warms up with some treats and a little time. He is partial to men it seems. Blockie is a young, handsome work in progress! Blockie is good on leash and a good rider. He is house trained and crate trained. He is good with dogs. Blockie is a stray to the shelter. He is approved for kids 12+. More info soon!

Update: Blockie is a busy boy! He has lots of jobs to do each day. He has to guard the shower so his foster dad can't sneak past him when he is done. He had yard work to do -notice the work gloves in his mouth. He has to go run and play at the river with his foster siblings. He has to try to do his own nails if someone leaves the emery board out (don't worry - it was taken away after the funny photo op)! He has to use his big head to weigh foster mom's leg down to make sure she relaxes....whew all that work tires a boy out! He is still able to get a little workout in though LOL This handsome dude is young, fun and ready to roll! He is keeping his foster parents on his toes but they say life with Blockie is fun!

Update: Blockie is settling, tapping into the Lab within :-) He loves playing with other dogs at the river. He had a play date this week and was exhausted afterwards. He sleeps through the night and his anxiety-driven quirks are greatly reduced. He will do best with a family that can instill trust early and give him a consistent regimen. He likes to know what to expect. He is a creature of habit. He is very well trained and really has done a lot on his own by mirroring our other dogs. Crating is minimal as he is housetrained and is not destructive. He enjoys his exercise and is calm in the house. He likes his naps. Blockie is very communicative. If he cannot get settled, he usually has to go to the bathroom. If he wants something, you will know. Overall, Blockie is a total keeper. He is loyal, lovable, curious, and just a big sweet boy. Did you see that head? Yes, it is as big as it looks. He is gorgeous.

Update: Blockie is blossoming at his foster. From his foster: He is getting spoiled. Today he turned down a flip flop, a tennis ball and a Frisbee before finally accepting a red squeaky toy. I asked him weren't you a stray and then in the kennels for 9 months, now you are turning up your nose up at toys He doesn't care. He walks with our neighbors dog on/off leash and comes when called. We have had roofers coming and going with no issues. We are working on the mouthing as it seems anxiety driven but he is easily diverted. He is just a big old puppy who sometimes does not realize his size. He will make the right person that can continue his training and structure a wonderful, loyal buddy!

Update: Blockie is 100% lab silly. All slobbery, ball chewing, lovable lab, just loves to snuggle with you and do whatever you are doing. He is a working dog and is right by your side, helping you out with whatever. He just wants to be with his people. Oh, shut the door when making the bed, he is not so helpful with that :-)
