Hello, friends. My name is Portland Cartwright, and I am a 9 year old, 16 pound, Lhasa Apso mix gentleman who is looking for my “furever” family! You see, I used to live somewhere with a bunch of other dogs and some people who were “hoarders”. I’m not sure what that is, but I don’t think it was very good. I didn’t get a lot of attention, and they didn’t take very good care of us. :( Then, somehow, I was in a big, scary place with even more dogs, and I was very frightened. Fortunately for me, I was “rescued” by some nice people.

I am looking for a quiet home without small children. I do like my foster home, but there are too many other dogs here. I think I might like to be an only dog, or maybe have one other dog here. I’m very devoted and protective of my foster mom, like any good Lhasa would be, so I do need someone who can be the strong pack leader. Oh, and Foster Mom says I am an excellent watch dog.

Now, I have to admit that my vision isn’t perfect. I have cataracts in both eyes and some corneal scaring in one eye. I also have some small bladder stones that we are trying to get rid of, and some stiffness in my back legs. Can you overlook a few minor health problems?

I am crate trained and love going for walks and riding in the car. If you have questions or would like to meet me, you can email my foster mom at .

PS. I've had ALL my vetting, and oh boy, it was a lot. Here's what I had done:
Distemper/Parvo shots – TWICE. One shot doesn't cut it.
Bordetella shots - ALSO TWICE.
Spay/Neuter-of course.
A fecal exam so I don't have any bad worms. Treatment if I do.
A heartworm test. Treatment if I am positive for heart worms
BLOODWORK to make sure my liver and kidneys are working well, because you know, we doggies often have issues in the liver and kidneys.
A DENTAL exam AND cleaning if I needed it- yep, all my toofies are checked out.
See, that's a LOT. Ask your vet - that's a LOT.
