Hi folks! My name is Murphy and I'm about 5 years old. Now, to say that I am about the most handsome creature you have ever seen would be (according to my foster Mom) a gross miscalculation!! But what's even more appealing is that I am as sweet as I am handsome. I had a very rough start in life as I was living with many, many other dogs and we were all tied to dog boxes outside. Summertime was horribly hot and winter was beyond cold. As a matter of fact, when I was finally rescued my paws were bleeding from being frozen. But enough of the past!!! I am happy to say that since I have been rescued things have been nothing short of PERFECT for me!! Not only have I been completely vetted but I was also given a much needed dental and now have pearly whites!! I am currently being fostered with 2 other dogs and we get along famously. I do great with my potty habits and have enjoyed impressing everyone but remember, will need time to adjust to a new routine and home. I am NOT a fan of being crated but my foster Mom says that I am a perfect gentleman even when I'm not crated! We have learned that I have a tendency to be extremely withdrawn and shy if there are no other dogs in the home. As a result I MUST go to a home with at least 1 other dog....a dog that will "encourage" me to join in the fun!! I am otherwise a very laid back kinda guy who gets along with everyone I meet. I LOVE women humans and acclimate well to men humans given time to trust them. I have no aggression issues at all, it simply take a bit more time for me to warm up to men. However if there is another lively dog in the home I am more than happy to follow his/her lead when it comes to meeting/greeting humans of the male persuasion!! I am getting quite used to riding in the car and love looking at the scenery. My leash manners are a work in progress but I am getting better. I'm not a "barky" kinda dog but will join in with my foster doggie siblings if they start! During the day while my foster mom and dad are at work, I make sure that I keep their couch warm for them so that when they come home it's nice and comfy for them. At night time when it's time for bed, I will either curl up on the dog bed or (if they let me) I've been known to crash on the bed with the humans! All in all, I am a great guy who would love a home of any kind as long as you have another dog(s) for me to hang with. Oh, and I love kids too....and cats as well!!! Fill out that application because with these looks and this awesome temperment I will be very popular!! love, murphy xoxoxo

Why Adoption is a Great Option

MURPHY**4ish yrs old & 42 lbs!!!, a Mentor Collie/Golden Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Collie/Golden Retriever for sale in Mentor, or seeking a Collie/Golden Retriever dog from a breeder in Mentor.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Mentor already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Mentor breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Collie/Golden Retriever breeders who help with Collie/Golden Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Mentor paves the way for another one to be saved.
