My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

AAARRROOOOO! Hello beagle friends a big Arroo to you, my name is Archie! I am an eight year old, handsome beagle boy looking for a loving forever home. I am on the quest to find a loving home because my past was not so wonderful. I was recently pulled from a high kill shelter in Ohio. In fact my Midwest BREW friends came just in time. I had been in the shelter for a month and I only had one more day until I met a not so great fate. I am so thankful that Midwest BREW was looking out for me. Today I am living a quiet life with my foster mom and two foster beagle sisters. I am settling into foster home life nicely and I deserve the comforts. My foster mom thinks I may have been hit or kicked in my previous life because I get nervous when she reaches out to pet me. It is taking me a little extra time to trust and to gain confidence. I really appreciate all of the attention, love and patience I get from my foster mom, our neighbors and friends. I am finally gaining confidence and the knowledge that not all people are bad. I have to request understanding that it may take me a bit to come out of my shell.

Foster mom also thinks I may have always been an outside dog, possibly crated or penned outside because the home life is new to me. I was nervous just to enter the house for the first time and it actually took a little persuading. Once I was in – I sniffed everything and I was on edge for the first few days. All of the new sounds, smells and activities really threw me for a loop. I mean – wow - there is a screen with people, colors and sounds I never imagined existed. I guess this TV thing is pretty popular, but it sure messes with my mind! With all of these new experiences I am getting the hang of it and I am actually quite enjoying it – I have started to lie in my dog bed rather than just lie on the floor, that’s quite a perk. A few times I have even picked up a toy to chew. I like the rope toys the best!

Day to day when my foster mom works, I really don’t mind being in my crate. Sometimes one of my foster sisters will go in there with me. That is fine with me, I don’t mind and I am friendly with the other dogs. I like the crate and my crate makes me feel safe so I don’t mind being in there. Even when the door is left I open and I have my choice, I sometimes go in there to relax. I sleep in there at night also. I am a pretty low maintenance beagle boy.

Some more fun things about me – I am certainly a typical beagle. I love food! I eat pretty fast, I love my meal times. I love the smell of all food. Human food is the best, I don’t beg too much but I always hope something will hit the floor for me. I always am in the kitchen and I watch my foster mom cook or do dishes all of the time. She actually tells me my name could be “Shadow” because I follow her around like her shadow. I never let her out of my sight. Don’t even think I won’t follow you during your restroom breaks either! But who would mind having a cute guy like me as your shadow?

Another beagle thing I do is let out my deep barks and aarrooos! I am the protector and I always alert when other dogs are passing by. At home I don’t bark as much unless my foster sisters get me going into conversation but when I am out and about I tend to bark more. My bark is very manly and deep. If you leave me out too long I will remind you to let me in or if I hear you preparing my food I will tell you how excited I am!

If you love beagles, you will love me. I am super sweet and gentle. I am very obedient, mellow, cute and super soft. I walk very nicely on the leash and I have enjoyed walking with my foster mom and I do well when we go out as a pack. I have been a super easy house guest and I am not sure who wouldn’t want me around? Foster mom thinks as I grow into home life I will become an extremely loyal best friend. I am a gem of a rescue beagle and I will bring someone a lot of joy and who doesn’t need a little more joy? Contact Midwest BREW and ask for Archie!
