Facts about Spottie

  • Breed: Foxhound Mix
  • Color: Tricolor (Tan/Brown & Black & White)
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
  • Sex: Male
Spottie is a beautiful either Foxhound or Treeing Walker Coonhound. We were told that he is a Coonhound but he really looks more like a Foxhound to me. He is tall and stately, super graceful and gazelle-like. Scottie is heartworm negative, vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. He was given to the shelter by his family because their 3 year old child was alone in a room with Spottie and another dog, a pit mix. The child was bitten by one of the two dogs. The family didn't know which one had bitten the child but decided to give Spottie to the shelter. The shelter couldn't put him up for adoption because of the possibility that he might have bitten a child.... but no one knows which of the two dogs bit the child.
We were willing to take him into rescue in order to give him a chance. He is super sweet and friendly and a complete joy to have around. He would be a great running companion for someone. He is a gorgeous dog.
Our adoption fee is $300 and the fee to transport to Putnam, Ct. using Rescue Road Trips is $185. We check vet references and do home visits prior to an adoption. We require that our dogs be on monthly year round heartworm prevention. Please email QueenB534@aol.com for more information.

About Looziana Basset Rescue, Inc. - Louisiana Chapter

About Our Rescue Group...

Looziana Basset Rescue, Inc. is a non-profit volunteer effort to save abandoned and mistreated basset hounds for the love of the breed. Our rescued bassets are from shelters all over Louisiana and Mississippi, are strays whose owners cannot be found, or are relinquished by owners who no longer want them. Changing lifestyles, the economy, and lack of responsibility are some of the reasons for the abundance of abandoned basset hounds.

Looziana Basset Rescue takes the orphaned bassets into foster care, where they are loved and cared for until permanent adoptive homes can be found. We provide veterinary care that includes vaccinations, heartworm treatment if necessary, and spaying or neutering. We completely rehabilitate, both physically and emotionally, any adoptable dog and prepare him/her for a "forever home."

Come Meet Our Pets...

When you've looked at all the great animals here and chosen one that you'd like to meet face-to-muzzle, contact us. We'll get an adoption application to you quick as a hungry basset. Then we'll do everything we can to get you and your chosen hound together for an introduction.

To ensure that you and the pet you select are ideal for each other, we'll give you some time after the introduction to think about it.

As of March 2012 our adoption fee is $300. This includes spay/neuter, all shots, fecal and worming, microchip, heartworm test and treatment, if necessary, and all other veterinary care that is needed. The average amount that we invest in each dog is around $900, so this is quite a bargain. Looziana Basset Rescue has an extensive adoption process as well as adoption agreement.
