My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Josephine (”Josie”) is a beagle mix, 3 years old, who weighs 37 lb.

Josie is already a very well-mannered dog. She will arrive at her new family “above average” in all sorts of doggy skills:

Josie is housebroken and waits 5+ hours if necessary to go outside. She is currently being left on her own for period of 2-3 hours without being crated and behaves herself well.
Josie is a doll in the kitchen (no licking in the dishwasher!) and doesn’t beg or pester. She waits patiently in her crate while her foster parents eat. She is so restrained about food that she doesn’t pick up food that has fallen on the floor.
Josie listens well at the door and on walks, responding to a “wait” command. She is patient getting into and out of her harness and loves her twice daily 60-minute walks! She has learned to get less excited when opportunities to chase chipmunks and visit with passing joggers arise, and listens well to her foster mom.
Josie doesn’t jump up on visitors, who always comment on her gentle manners and good behavior.
Josie is happy to ride in the car and is a good passenger.
Josie heads straight into her crate without protest, like at the end of the day when she’s asked to “go to bed”, and shesleeps through the night like a trooper.
Josie has a couple of known “dislikes” that make her feel a little overwhelmed:

1) Thunderstorms worry Josie (although she is not fearful with other big noises, vacuum cleaner, etc.).

2) Other dogs, particularly those that are bigger than her. Josie shows limited enthusiasm for doggy friends, and seems to prefer to be with people.

Are you looking for a well-behaved girl who is ahead of the curve on how to be a “polite” family member? Josie may be the one!
