Hawkeye is a beagle/basset mix. When he came into Midwest BREW, it was discovered that he was heartworm positive. He has been treated and is now looking for his forever home. He will need vigilance with heartworm preventative for the rest of his life.

He is very handsome and loves affection. He is learning to walk on a leash. He loves to smell the ground and can spend a long time just going along slowly with his nose to the ground. He can be quite vocal. He would not be good for someone looking for a walking companion or for apartment living. But he would be wonderful for a family looking for a gentle, loving, and handsome buddy. He can be quite entertaining with his quirky antics.

Hawkeye is crate-trained although he prefers to be near his canine buddies and human. He would do better in a home with another dog. He also does well with the cat in his foster home.
