My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

But in the end it's only a passing thing this shadow, even darkness must pass. A new day will come, and when the sun shines it'll shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you, that meant something even if you were too small to understand why. - Samwise Gamgee from 'Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers'
We just couldn't be any happier for our little guy Sam because the darkness of being neglected, unloved and unwanted is a thing of the past...his new day has come. Sam is an adorable 1 year old black, white, and red foxhound mix who will be right at 35 lbs after a few more good meals. Sam was pulled from a high kill southern shelter and placed in a loving foster home where his happy journey started. Sam is a very sweet, intelligent, athletic, active boy who loves an adventure. He is the kind of pup who will do great with an active family who will keep him busy and well exercised (couch potatoes need not apply). He is house and crate trained and is very well mannered. He loves going for family walks and running around playing with his sister. Sam will need a fenced in yard with a high fence as our boy has the ability to climb (he is a treeing hound after all). He is smart and eager to learn so a person or family willing to train him and work with him on boundaries (like fence climbing attempts) would certainly help him to be the best boy he can be. He does well on leash and improves daily. He would be a good candidate for a running partner and/or some agility training. Sam is very friendly and gets along well with people of all ages and other dogs. He is a bit too curious about cats and thinks it's fun to chase them so he would do best in a home without feline roomies. Sam is already neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, micro chipped, and current on preventatives. His journey now continues on to a wonderful happily ever after in a forever loving home with his forever after family. His fun loving spirit and zest for life is sure to bring smiles and laughter for many years to come. So if you want to be the one who will forever be a part of his story, a story that really means something, then Sam is certainly ready for his happy ending.
