My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

As. Sweet. As. Can. Be. ...Pretty much sums this lush up. Roman was rescued earlier this year as part of a large TNR project that Tree House undertook in response to a widespread viral video portraying cat abuse in a specific region of Chicago. Luckily, the cat from the video was rescued and nursed back to health, as were a number of other cats from that same area. Roman arrived a little rough-looking, with skin and ear infections alike. Luckily, with some proper veterinary care and lots of TLC, this big boy is now ready for his forever home! It’s hard to believe he ever lived outside, given his amazingly sweet, loving temperament. We haven’t seen him with other cats quite yet, but given his background and his awesome personality, we are hopeful he’ll fit right into this colony setting while awaiting that perfect person to take him home.

*Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) causes a weakening of the immune system in cats. It's often compared to human HIV, but FIV is not transferable to humans or other species. It is also difficult to transfer to other sterilized cats, and we believe that mixed FIV and non-FIV households can work if managed properly. If kept indoors in a stress-free environment, with regular medical care and high-quality nutrition, most FIV+ cats live long and healthy lives. Tree House staff can help answer your questions to see if an FIV+ cat is the right choice for you. FIV+ cats adopted from Tree House are eligible for a lifetime veterinary-care plan that includes a free annual exam and discounted treatments.
