Athena's Story...
Athena was trapped as part of our TNVR program but she was very friendly so we brought her inside and decided to try to get her adopted. When we brought her to the vet to get her spayed they realized she had already been spayed. They checked her for a microchip then and actually found one! We were hopeful when we found it was registered to a man in Parsippany but he told us he hadn't seen her in a year, that his ex-girlfriend had the cat. When we got in contact with the ex-girlfriend she told us she hadn't seen the cat in a year, that she had given her to a "friend" and didn't want her back. So she was obviously abandoned at some point.
Despite all of that she still a sweet and loving girl who is just so happy to be back inside again. She gets along well with the other cats in her foster home. She is already microchipped and the registration will be transferred to the new adopters.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Athena, a West Orange Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in West Orange, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in West Orange.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in West Orange already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a West Orange breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in West Orange paves the way for another one to be saved.
