Maggie's Story...
Hello my name is Maggie! I am an adorable girl that needs a very specific home. I am only 4 years old, but I think I am in charge when I am placed in a home. I require a strict environment that will calmly, but firmly, set rules in the home. I am not able to be around other animals because I am aggressive with them, as well as small children. I perceive children as anyone under 18 years old, or those I can boss around. I have bitten in the past and even though I am small this is something big to be considered by my future home. I should not be allowed to sleep in the bed, and my owners should respect my feeding area as well as work on training. I do very well in the shelter environment because I can't take control of where I live there...there's just too many other animals. The problem seems to be when I am placed in a home and then try to become the dominant leader of the house. If you think you would be a good companion for me please fill out an adoption application at www.al-van.org!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Maggie, a South Haven Cairn Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Cairn Terrier for sale in South Haven, or seeking a Cairn Terrier dog from a breeder in South Haven.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in South Haven already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a South Haven breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Cairn Terrier breeders who help with Cairn Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in South Haven paves the way for another one to be saved.
